Postdoctoral Researcher - Directed Self-Assembly of Functional Nanomaterials

Position Description

The laboratories of Chris Keating in the Chemistry department and Theresa Mayer in the Electrical Engineering department at The Pennsylvania State University seek to fill a postdoctoral research position in the area of directed self-assembly of functional nanomaterials. The position is funded through the Center for Nanoscale Science, an NSF-funded Materials Research Science and Engineering Center (MRSEC) at Penn State (http://archive.mrsec.psu.edu/). The position requires a PhD in a relevant field of science or engineering (e.g., electrical engineering, physics, materials science, chemistry or chemical engineering). Experience in particle assembly, COMSOL multi-physics modeling, nanofabrication, and materials characterization is strongly desired. The successful applicant will join the IRG4 team, working on Multicomponent Assemblies for Collective Function (archive.mrsec.psu.edu/research/irg4). IRG4 seeks to understand and control the organization of particle mixtures to generate photonic and electronic architectures in which non-additive functions are imparted by the collective properties of the array. An interest in cross-disciplinary collaboration and excellent communication skills are required. Applications must be submitted electronically, and should include a cover letter and curriculum vitae. The cover letter and/or curriculum vitae should describe prior training and other qualifications for the positions, and include a list of publications and references. Applicants should also arrange to have at least two letters of recommendation sent directly to Dr. Keating at cmd8@psu.edu. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding.

All applicants must apply through the Penn State Job Management System at ohr.psu.edu.
